Christmas Has Arrived at Walt Disney World Resort!

Christmas Has Arrived at Walt Disney World Resort!

If there’s one thing Walt Disney World does best, it’s creating magic that leaves guests speechless. And nowhere is this more evident than in the incredible overnight transformation that takes place each year from Halloween to Christmas. As soon as the last Halloween party ends on October 31st, Disney’s famously pulls off an enchanting, picture-perfect winter wonderland by morning.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into this one-of-a-kind transformation and what you can expect to see as Disney World brings the holidays to life.

The Overnight Shift

The transformation from Halloween to Christmas is no small feat. Disney teams plan the details of this overnight operation months in advance, ensuring every snowflake, garland, and holiday light has its perfect place.

On Halloween night, as guests say goodbye to the pumpkins, spooky decorations, and autumn colors, Disney’s Holiday Services team moves in. This department works with designers, engineers, and artists who specialize in holiday decor. Trucks filled with Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, ornaments, and miles of lights are unloaded and spread across Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom to turn Halloween’s spooky spirit into a cozy holiday glow.

Holiday Offerings at Walt Disney World Parks & Resorts

Magic Kingdom Park

Magic Kingdom’s Main Street, U.S.A. undergoes one of the most iconic holiday makeovers. On October 31st, Main Street is filled with fall wreathes with Mickey-shaped pumpkins, but come November 1st, everything transforms.

Guests are greeted with garlands and wreaths decked out with red and gold ornaments and poinsettias abound. A towering Christmas tree, adorned with colorful ornaments and lights, serves as the main focal point. Even the lampposts sport holiday-themed decorations, and each shop along Main Street carries Christmas treats, gifts, and seasonal surprises.

One of the biggest holiday events, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, begins in early November. This after-hours event at Magic Kingdom features snow on Main Street, meet-and-greets with characters in their holiday attire, holiday-themed shows, and a unique fireworks display set to Christmas music.

There is also a special holiday overlay at the Jungle Cruise. It transforms into the Jingle Cruise, featuring a fun holiday storyline, decorations, and seasonal humor.

Epcot

Epcot also celebrates the season with the International Festival of the Holidays, where you can experience holiday traditions from around the world. You’ll find holiday kitchens with international treats, storytellers sharing festive folklore, and the Candlelight Processional—a beautiful retelling of the Christmas story with celebrity narrators and an orchestra.

Hollywood Studios

At Hollywood Studious, Sunset Boulevard features a holiday-lit Tower of Terror, and the park showcases festive projections and decorations throughout.

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is decked out with unique, nature-inspired holiday decor. The Tree of Life comes to life with a holiday light display, and Discovery Island features sparkling animal-themed lanterns that light up the walkways.
